In recent times more and more sim racers have been getting into live-streaming, and due to this, we have been seeing the need to acquire more tech-related products such as better lighting, cameras, microphones, etc.

One of the best ways to increase your video quality is with good lighting. It does not matter if you’re using a DSLR camera, mirrorless camera, action camera, webcam, or smartphone, they all can benefit from good lighting.

Today I’m excited to be looking at the Sevenoak SK-PL30 bicolor mini LED video light in this quick review, it’s probably The Best Mini LED Video Light Under Twenty Five Dollars.

I bought my first pair of these mini video lights way back on May 30, 2018, and I’ve since had the opportunity to use them in a variety of circumstances.

So far they’ve been holding up great and have been producing some pretty good results, so let’s break down the price, the features, and everything else that you need to know.

PRICING

So the retail price for this LED light at the time of this review is $14.50 USD, of course, you can always find coupons and sales, and it sort of hovers around $21.00 USD on Amazon.com, that’s how much I paid when I purchased my first pair back in 2018.

See the current price on Amazon here.

FEATURES

The reason why I love bi-color lights is that they give you a lot more versatility when it comes to your lighting setup.

What bi-color means is that out of the 30 LED lamp beads inside of the Sevenoak mini video light, 15 of the LEDs are a kind of a white daylight color which is around 5500 on the Kelvin scale, and the other 15 LEDs are an amber color which may better match the lamps in your home with a warmer color temperature which is around 3200 Kelvin.

There are several good reasons to look at LED lights for our use in video, photography, vlogging, and live-streaming. One reason is that LED lights can put out a huge amount of light without a lot of heat.

Featuring a sturdy plastic housing, the SK-PL30 Mini LED Video Light from Sevenoak can be mounted onto any handheld grip, DSLR camera, Mirrorless camera, or camcorder that has a standard shoe mount. It can be used with an Action Camera, and many other situations.

It can also be used for vlogging or taking selfies with your favorite Smartphone by adding the Sevenoak SK-PSC1 Smart Grip or this identical Movo PR-1 Smartphone Grip which will be linked below as well.

This handy little video light can also be used with your favorite tripod or articulating arm, etc, thanks to its standard-sized metal 1/4-20 female threaded insert.

It can be easily attached to the hot-shoe of your camera or even the cold-shoe of a camera cage, etc.

You can set the light to one of three different brightness settings “low, medium, and high” via the brightness adjustment switch which is conveniently located on the left side of the light, while the power switch and micro USB charging port are on the right.

What About Charging and Runtime?

Depending on the brightness setting, the lamp can last for about 1.5 hours on its highest setting, to about 5 hours on its lowest setting per full charge. This is one of the Best Cheap Lighting for YouTube Videos Under $25.

The lamp has a built-in rechargeable battery which can be charged with the included micro USB to USB Type-A charging cable. You can monitor the charging status with the red LED charging indicator on the lower left-hand side of the unit.

The LED lights up red while charging and goes out when the unit is fully charged. With its extremely low power consumption of just one watt, the SK-PL30 Mini LED Video Light is easily rechargeable with your cellphones charger.

One of my favorite features of this particular LED video light is that it can be used while it’s charging. This is a huge advantage for me because I sometimes use up to four of these lights while live-streaming on my Sim Racing YouTube channel (Pro Sim Racing).

This way I can plug them in and stream for hours without any issues, and at the end, the light is fully charged and ready to go.
